Service Apartment - World Trade Center

Image
The Service Apartment has the main entry leading to the double-height waiting lounge connected with the reception desk and the two circulation cores. The two dramatic staircases lead to the first floor with a restaurant on one side and conference rooms on the other which can also be accessed by the lift core. The two alternative guest floor plans are designed to create an interesting elevation. This is achieved by displacing the balcony and the corridor spaces at each alternate level. Ground Floor Plan First Floor Plan The longest side of the apartment is about 63 meters. So as to avoid the typical guest room layout with a continuous circulation corridor at the center with two rows of back-to-back guest rooms on the two sides of the corridor, I proposed the main lift cores at the center which break the long continuous corridor to avoid the claustrophobic effect. Such  an arrangement allows the users to explore the spaces creating an interesting and unique feature overall. As the comple

The Shopping Complex - World Trade Center

Image
The Shopping complex is designed to connect indoor and outdoor functions. This is achieved by recessing the floor plate of the shopping complex at each level, thus forming cascading terraces at each floor which can be accessed by the stairs at every floor. The idea is to design a huge plaza for the public with cascading levels as if it seems like an elevated ground at each level. The main Plaza is kept free of any vehicular circulation. The two Identical Office Towers can be accessed by the lift core on the ground floor of the podium/ complex that directly opens up to the 4th level where the office tower begins. The central section includes the circulation area and all the required services while the offsets of the floor are occupied by different office room layouts. Each floor has 4 common meeting rooms. The whole complex is designed as a single entity yet each building has its own special features and identity that separates the functions and user access. It seems like an elevated gr

The Signature Tower - World Trade Center

Image
The Signature Tower entry leads to a double-height waiting lounge connected to the reception area and the main  vertical circulation core. The staircases lead to the upper floor to two exhibition halls with a temporary partition  that can also act as one depending on the number of users attending the event. The second floor gets recessed to form  a terrace that serves as the open dining space for the two restaurants with common dining. The signature tower gets rotated at every 3 floors at an angle of 45 degrees. As the floor plate rotates, the corner pockets of  the floor form up as triangular terraces which can also serve as refuge areas. These green terraces formed can also  be used as the breakout zones for the office employees. The office rooms are designed in such a way that each room has  access to these green terraces. The verticality of the towers is broken down by creating terraces at different floors so as to compare it to the human scale to deal with ease of access and funct

Vertical Gardens

Vertical gardens are aesthetically pleasing, space-saving, and sustainable additions to our cities. Fewer of us have access to garden space as cities become more crowded and reliant on apartment living. By 2050, around 80% of the world's population will be living in cities. The development of inventive urban gardens, such as rooftop farms, balcony herb gardens, and grass walls in the inner city, has been one creative solution to this. There are various advantages to vertical gardening: Not only does it save space, but it also protects your crop from pests and illnesses.  When you raise your vegetables vertically, they become much easier to target.  It allows you to create a stunning garden on any wall or vacant space.  Vertical gardens contribute to healthy air circulation regardless of whether they are built indoors or outside. Most apartments have a small outdoor space, like a balcony or patio but this doesn’t mean you should think small in your gardening. Vertical gardening is t
